When it comes to hair products, the ethics behind the beauty care company has never mattered more than it does today. Many beauty products are tested on animals first to see if there are any medical reactions to their products…and concerned consumers aren’t having it.

Animal testing will soon be an outmoded and barbaric process, as more companies realize there are a multitude of methods to scientifically review their hair care products without caging and forcing animals to being subjugated to horrific testing procedures.

If animal testing continues to be practiced by beauty or hair care company in 2020, it becomes increasingly bad PR. It can reflect a company out of touch with the world around them, with increasing numbers of customers who care about the welfare of the ecology of our planet.

Is Wella Cruelty Free?

Unfortunately, Wella isn’t cruelty-free or vegan. Wella continues to carry on in-house testing their products on animals as well as used third parties for testing purposes. They also do not verify that their suppliers are cruelty-free.

Who Makes Wella Hair Care Products?

According to Wikipedia:

Wella AG is a major German hair care company headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany. Founded in 1880 by Franz Ströher, it specializes in hair carestyling and colorants sold to individuals as well as hairdressers and was controlled by Procter & Gamble from 2003 until it was sold to Coty, Inc. in 2015 along with some 40 other P&G brands.

Where Can You Buy Cruelty Free Hair Products?

Good news: there are a multitude of vegan and cruelty-free hair care products to choose from these days. Most proudly declare this kind of information on their websites or on the products themselves.

The takeaway? Take some time and get to know the companies behind the hair care and beauty products on your shelves. Why support a company with outmoded and barbaric animal testing practices when they are comparable (if not better) products available? Let’s beautify ethically, shall we?
